Becher coached amateur baseball for 40+ years

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of former American National director and coach William (Bill) Becher III.   He passed away on April 7, 2023.

Becher was inducted into the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.   He coached at Riverview Gardens and with the Johnny Mac Thunder and American National Eagles in SLABA.   He was a 3-time SLABA Coach of the Year and winner of the SLABA Muskopf-Sears Service Award.   Becher coached over 200 players who played college baseball and 14 players who played professionally.

Becher was an avid sports fan.   He had a love for the game of baseball.   As a huge supporter of St. Louis sports, he spent many years rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues.   He had great respect and admiration for Stan Musial and Bobby Plager.

He was the beloved son of the late Joanne and William J. Becher II; brother of Michael (Maggie) Becher of Florida; father of Christina Becher; grandfather of Savannah Becher; uncle of Katherine and Matthew Becher; companion of Michelle Becher; and a dear friend of many.

The family plans a celebration of life in the future.
