JOHNNY MAC THUNDER
The Johnny Mac Thunder program ended play in SLABA in 2012 after 25 successful seasons. The program was founded in 1965 and was one of the founding organizations of SLABA in 1987. Johnny Mac Thunder were one of the most successful programs in summer select baseball in the St. Louis area since 1970. Their 18U team qualified and participated in two World Series tournaments via SLABA affiliations. The 17U teams made 10 World Series appearances. Johnny Mac’s 14U’s, 15U’s and 16U’s were also highly successful in state, regional and World Series play. The teams traveled to competitive summer tournaments in: Carson City, NV; Rapid City, SD; Minnetonka, MN; Niagara Falls, Canada; Wheeling, WV; Ft. Wayne, IN; Cincinnati, OH; Louisville, KY; Cocoa, FL; Deland, FL; Orlando, FL; Omaha, NE; and many more locations. Team colors were scarlet, royal and white. Home games were played at Mehlville High School and Affton Athletic Association. Base schools were Mehlville and Oakville.
